Top 5 Games To Expect For The Nintendo Revolution
Though it has achieved great success with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Nintendo tremendously slowed down with its new generation machines, namely the Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo Gamecube. Many people believe that were it not for Nintendo’s stable of widely loved franchises like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid, Nintendo would have gone the way of Sega in the console department, that is, out of business. But with their latest offering, Nintendo aims not to revolutionize system hardware. Rather, Nintendo aims to revolutionize the gaming experience itself. Hence, it has aptly named its next generation console as the Nintendo Revolution. From the controller to the way that you play games, Nintendo wants to effectuate a change, and this is very evident in the design of its newest machine. But, as any veteran gamer would tell you, the success of a console lies in the games in its lineup. Little information exists about the Revolution’s offerings. But based on history, we could ascertain the following games as they are the most anticipated titles as well as the bestselling franchises in Nintendo’s storied history. Let’s take a look at the top five games to look out for when it comes to the Nintendo Revolution. 1. Mario. There was a time when Mario was inseparable from his brother, Luigi. The Italian plumbers had grand adventures in the days of yore. When the Nintendo 64 was released, however, Mario went solo and tried to save the princess on his own (Luigi also graduated to his own title for the Nintendo Gamecube). A Mario game is always something that rocks the industry to its core. Not that a Mario game is a technological achievement, but it has always been known to have the best game play among the current crop of titles. And the Nintendo Revolution installment shouldn’t be different. Mario is Nintendo’s flagship title, and it will be featured prominently for the Revolution when it launches. 2. Legend of Zelda. Link’s adventures in the land of Hyrule have won many fans. This devoted following are always on the lookout for the next Zelda game. Link’s last adventure in the Nintendo Gamecube shows him to have grown up. The series took a dark turn, which a lot of people actually like. Is this an indication on what we could expect for what should be one of the Revolution’s premiere titles? Make it so! Make it so! 3. Metroid. One of the best moments in video gaming history was when Samus removed that all-familiar helmet to reveal that the hero of the series is actually a heroine. In the Gamecube, Samus’ adventures were presented via a first person shooter (FPS). Though many were actually critical about this change, the game proved that the play mechanics of the side-scrolling originals were kept intact despite the change in perspective. And Metroid still kept its title as one of Nintendo’s most bankable franchises. 4. Final Fantasy. Square-Enix (then known simply as Square) began its rise to fame with its partnership with Nintendo in the 80’s to the mid-90’s. The grapevine is rumbling with words that such a partnership would be forged again. It must be recalled that Square-Enix abandoned Nintendo during the start of the next generation wars, and went with Sony to produce exclusive Final Fantasy installments that completely enchanted the whole world. 5. Donkey Kong. A late bloomer for the next generation wars, Donkey Kong has proven to be a good addition to Nintendo’s roster of fabulous games. Though it didn’t make an appearance until the latter years of the Nintendo 64’s life, this giant gorilla who was once Mario’s main adversary (before he was replaced by the turtle-dragon king, Bowser) has had a series of great games that left many people clamoring for more. As you have read on this site many times the best place to get these games is EBay auctions. |
